Welcome to One Day Closer. We appreciate the time you are taking to get to know more about our ministry and how you can get involved. Together, we have a chance to reach, teach, and serve others through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are excited about our mission and we can’t wait to connect with you.
One Day Closer Project is dedicated to empowering and equipping a generation of believers that are passionate about living their faith out boldly to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading His name among the nations.
God’s desire isn’t for us just to have a decent life here on earth until we get to our eternal life in heaven. He wants our lives on earth to be full, purposeful, and overflowing! It is possible to have a saved soul and wasted life, but that isn’t God’s desire for us.
In order to best understand our heart for missions, we want you to know our family, our goals, and our history. We have always had a heart for serving others, especially the marginalized and the poor. Our family, Rob, Kristi, Madison, Kinley, and Caden, served on multiple international mission trips together over the years in the Dominican Republic, Greece, and Costa Rica. At home, we served the homeless in Austin, and started a movement for teenagers called Ignite in our own backyard. Whether it be working with refugees abroad or serving the homeless in Austin, establishing a Christ-centered ministry always seemed to be a future goal of our entire family and one we had prayed and hoped for longingly.
Unfortunately on April 1, 2023, our lives took a drastic turn when our 15 year old son Caden went to Heaven following a tragic accident with an ATV on a friend’s ranch. You can read more about the incredible life Caden lived here.
In our tragedy, it is tempting to count down the days we survive without Caden. But it is time to count forward to heaven. Even though our lives have taken a drastic turn, the Holy Spirit has continued to carry us and give us purpose one day at a time.
When something tragic happens in our lives, we are forced to stop and evaluate what is most important. For us, that is loving the Lord with our whole hearts, loving others, sharing the hope of Jesus with others and continuing to make disciples.
We know that God has a plan to use our suffering for His purposes. We desire to let the Spirit lead us as we trust His plan for our ministry. At One Day Closer, we plan to start with the places that God has already been moving and using our family to serve but also hold out open hands in anticipation for Him to lead us for whatever else He has for this ministry.
As Matthew 24:14 says, “This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Each day we are one day closer to heaven and we have one day less to tell of the goodness of our Heavenly Father and our hope of salvation. We want to make the most of each day here making much of Jesus. More of Him and less of us. Our desire is to preach this powerful and unwavering Hope because we ourselves have experienced it. We will have ongoing activities and projects with this mission in mind. Would you partner with us in doing just that?
